SUNY Cobleskill Ranked 38th U.S. News Best Colleges List

September 12, 2012
SUNY Cobleskill is again rated as one of the “Best Colleges” in the North Region, ranking 38th in the 2013 edition of “Best Colleges” by U.S. News Media Group. The exclusive rankings, which include more than 1,400 schools nationwide, are now available at www.usnews.com/colleges, and will also be published in the September issue of U.S. News & World Report, on newsstands starting September 18.

“SUNY Cobleskill is proud to be recognized as one of the region’s leading colleges,” said Candace S. Vancko, officer in charge.  “The rankings reflect Cobleskill’s continuing growth as a baccalaureate degree granting institution.”

Over 40 percent of Cobleskill students are enrolled in baccalaureate degree programs in Agricultural Business Management, Agricultural Equipment Technology, Animal Science, Applied Psychology, Biotechnology, Business Administration, Communication in Technology, Culinary Arts Management, Early Childhood Studies, Environmental and Energy Technologies, Financial Services, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Graphic Design Technology, Information Technology, Landscape Contracting, Plant Science, Turfgrass Management and Wildlife Management. Baccalaureate programs at Cobleskill build on the college’s historic strengths in associate degree education and feature extensive experiential learning opportunities through internships and field experiences.

Over the past two decades, the U.S. News college rankings, which group schools based on categories created by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, has grown to be the most comprehensive research tool for students and parents considering higher education opportunities.

Cobleskill joins an impressive list of SUNY campuses earning “Best Colleges” recognition q-from U.S. News. “We are delighted to see so many SUNY schools ranked among the nation’s “Best Colleges” by U.S. News & World Report again this year,” said SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher. “In New York, Governor Cuomo and our public colleges have worked very hard to provide an education of the highest quality that is both affordable and accessible. Today’s rankings are a testament to our success and to the outstanding quality of our campuses throughout New York State.”

In addition to the U.S. News honor, SUNY Cobleskill has been ranked among the nation’s Greenest Colleges by the Princeton Review. Cobleskill’s emphasis on civic engagement has earned the college recognition on the President’s National Honor Roll for Community Service for three consecutive years.
